It is recommended that any uncoated asphalt surface receive one or more coats of Acrylic Resurfacer (Technical Bulletin CMT- 3) as required by surface roughness and porosity to provide a smooth, dense underlayment for application of tennis court coatings and paint. New concrete surfaces must cure 28 days prior to application.
Not all tennis backboards are created equal. Over the last few decades, manufacturers have refined and perfected the backboard using different materials in the construction process, such as fiberglass, UV treated plastics, heavy duty polyurethane, wood, brick and even foam.
Where it is necessary to raise the levels of all or part of the court area, such filled material should be free of organic and/or unsuitable material and shall be placed in layers not exceeding 250mm in depth. Each layer will be suitably compacted prior to the laying of the next layer, to a minimum Australian Standard of 95% standard compaction.
